Interpreting

Professional simultaneous and consecutive interpreting for conferences, negotiations, training seminars, etc. There are two modes of interpreting used in conferences: simultaneous and consecutive (liaison).

Simultaneous Interpreting
The simultaneous interpreter, working in a sound-proof booth with at least one colleague, receives the words of the source-language speaker via earphones. While the source-language speaker continuously talks, it is the interpreter’s job to simultaneously render the message into the target-language to the listeners via their earphones. For off-site events, e.g. factory tours, the use of a tour guide system may be helpful. The tour guide is a portable device for simultaneous interpreting that allows mobile interpreting for up to 20 delegates. This mode of interpreting requires a very high level of concentration, therefore two or possibly three interpreters alternate every 20 to 30 minutes.

Whispered Simultaneous Interpreting can be used only for one or two delegates seated near each other. This technique is often used instead of consecutive interpreting in order to save time. The interpreter is seated or standing among the delegates and interprets directly into the ear of the delegate(s). We would be pleased to offer you a team of competent interpreters.

Consecutive Interpreting
The interpreter sits or stands with the delegates and source-language speaker in one room, and speaks after the source-language speaker has finished speaking. The speech is divided into segments of 2-3 sentences. Consecutive interpreting remains relevant for highly technical meetings, working lunches, small group discussions, negotiations etc. This mode of interpreting does not require the participants to use any technical devices. However, consecutive interpreting will take somewhat longer.
